Precious Disaster

(Note- I wrote this poem about  13-15 years ago, today I would like to share with you)

Lying in the debris
Are dumb figures; limbs, trunks
And all;
The convex figure of
A female shape; a womb-tomb!

Dark, dark , dark and dumb at once!
Before the cries of creation,
Before the desirous dawn,
In a cradle rocked to death.
With  tons of mounds of earth
On  a million mortal pressing
Amidst the frantic jerks and jolts
Nature’s see-saw!
With furious rise and fall
The essence of life is withdrawn
Into the caves of chaos.
.

Side by side the others
Unmindful of their neighbours or
Close relations or even a better half
Lying emotionless, no kinship, no friendship
Within the earth’s crust.
After the sudden waves of
Fluid movement
In the earth’s sphere
Sympathetic with-
With the sudden fury of the Furies
Houses fall into
The earth’s vacant streams,
Cattle and all;
Nature’s tall green-guards
Fall unguarded – all devoured in a wink.
All have falling sickness
Sick, giddy Earth
It seems suffering from
Severe salmonella poisoning
A mother’s agony
Manifested in the failure
Of the various agencies
At the time of a national emergency.

We call it a calamity.
What they call it
Below the earth’s surface
We have failed to interpret
With the aid of our human language
And to control with the aid of our
Modern seismological gadgetry,
The seismic spasms of
The mother Earth.

A precious reminder
When we watch the orphans
Bewailing the loss of
The sky above and
The earth beneath.
When we meet the staggering shadows
In  the streets
Without their props of living
Demolished and dumped down
Below the gaping  grounds,
The monstrous yawn
With all the burden of living-
Trunks and all !
When we see a mother’s figure
Turned into an epitaph-
A precious reminder-
Her tattered rags are words
Written by Time’s indifferent hand.
Her dried tears of
Vacant eyes
Oblivious of the basic needs
Of human habitat:
Food, shelter and habiliment.
Obsessed with the loss
Of her sanity of flesh and bones
Her future roots,
Blasted, of no more use to her
Now for she has the sky above
And the earth beneath!
To sustain her
Failure to adjust to
The sudden shocks that
Shook our Motherland and
Of late, in the land of the final destination of Yeats’ paltry thing
And the land of Kazuo Ishiguro always
And yesterday Al  Salvador
And tomorrow some new territories
Would be  doomed
Demolished, crushed,
Built, rebuilt and
Man’s powerlessness
Before the mystery of the continental drift
Shall be solved
When we pray to Him
To his magnificent generosity
To build and bless
Out of  the chaos of
Nature’s  callousness.

We all suffer though far away
Or near the epicentre
We feel still the devilish
Intensity of tremors
In our heart’s innermost muscles.
They rend us like reeds
When we read about you
Or hear condolences offered by
Our colleagues from different
Nationalities- a precious reminder-
We feel the pain slow, sudden and
Long –
And in a vision I saw
A crowd of
Lingering lava spreading
Over the mind’s horizon and coming out
In streams of tiny globes of  sorrow
Fall and are all splinters of
Burden and bliss of life stored for years
Bit by bit  into bits and pieces
Gleaned from a demolished home or
An area completely doomed,
A staggering figure I meet again
Wrapped in a shroud,
Warped by the clouds  of
Cold  commotion.

My Funtrip with Mom to Anand Resort by Ananya Prasad

The day on which I had to go on the trip with Mamma was really very exciting for me because on that day first of all I got up at 6:00am and then I refreshed and got ready and left for the bus at 7:00am, but then suddenly we got a news that the timings have been changed because of some issue. So we thought that why should we go again and come back so we sat on the special chairs and waited for other members of the group to come. After a few minutes I saw Jiya coming with her mother. Then her mother asked me as to why I was  sitting there. Then Mamma informed her that the timings had been changed. So they also waited there.

Then after one hour everybody came down and we got into the bus, then on the way everybody decided to play Antakshiri. It was great fun and learning experience when I heard Mamma using songs and poems. And then after an hour we felt hungry and we ate some snacks which we brought for the trip to eat and  spending time beautifully  we reached the resort after 2-3 hours.

When we entered the Royal Anand Resort we saw a huge swimming pool, So we got more and more excited and ran towards the room and changed our  clothes and then we came to a big and  deep swimming pool. We asked   the Life Guard the permission to use that swimming pool but he told us “ Children are not allowed in this swimming pool because it is very deep”. So we got disappointed and just thought for a minute . Then the guard told us that no need to worry because there is also another swimming pool for children. Then we became very happy and were very excited to go to that  pool , but then mamma told that first we have to eat the breakfast and then we will go for swimming. So I and my all friends found that there were many food items like Samosa, Pao, Rajma, Chatani, Upma, , Mango shake, Tea  etc and after eating in a hurry but well   we rushed towards   the swimming pool and jumped into it for swimming.  We had fun for 4-5 hours and at that time  I saw 2-3 times Mamma sliding in the  wrong direction on the slide.  I got scared but Mamma was smiling. We jumped and splashed water in the pool. It was such a relaxing experience.

Then after sometime we had  lunch and again started  swimming and at  that  time we had  special type of ride  on  a huge jelly seat  which the guards push and it slides downside and after riding  we came near a stall and ate two types of things –  first was Ice Gola, and the second was a sweet made of sugar candy (Ruia Mithai). And after eating those interesting things  we all took a shower and then we went  to  a sea beach. We played on the beach for an hour. Then after that we ate Bhel puri and spent some time there and finally  we sat in the bus and left for our lovely home. The trip turned out to be nicer when  suddenly it started raining. We were very tired and  all the children felt sleepy  but our parents were still talking and...disturbing our sleep.

The return journey took about   2 – 3 hours and we reached our apartment building and we were too tired we hurriedly went home and slept for an hour before we had our dinner.

MY TRIP TO DELHI by Ananya Prasad

MY TRIP TO DELHI by Ananya Prasad

First of all we packed our bags then we wore our shoes and came down and sat near the pillar in our apartment. Then after sometimes Mamma called the driver and the driver was very close to “Marigold 4c&d.” When the driver came we left for the airport. Then after an hour we reached the domestic terminal of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. There we took a trolley and kept our suitcase and handbags on it. Then we went to the self-checking counter and got our computerised boarding passes, after that we checked our  luggage and  we went for the security check. After that we took our handbags and sat on the chair and waited for the bus to come. Then after 15-20 minutes the bus came and we got into the bus. And within 2 minutes the bus left us at the runway. Then we went up stairs and the kind airhostess welcomed us. We saw our seat numbers and now we were settled down. We tied our seatbelts. After 20 minutes the plane took off. And we felt relieved and comfortable. About after half an hour the airhostess served some sandwiches , cold drinks  etc. For some time we were in the air. Finally slowly- slowly the plane landed and we removed our seat-belts and took our handbags, and came out of the aircraft to go down stairs.  We were at the Indira Gandhi Airport, Delhi. Again we pulled a luggage trolley and took our suitcase and kept it on the trolley. We came near the taxi stand and left there the luggage trolley; we got into the taxi and left for the guest-house. On the way the taxi driver started talking everything rubbish about love marriage and arranged marriage. He was very talkative. He should have kept quiet and minded his own business.   His ‘valuable’ talk came to an end after we reached the Guest-house. It was the house of an old aunty. When we came out of the taxi that time Rini didi and Phupha ji came to take us in. Then we entered the house and we met each and every person. When I went inside the room to keep the suitcase I saw Golu bhaiya playing video game. Then I came into the living-room where Bua told me to eat the dinner. So I took the medicines as I had cough and cold and ate the dinner. After that I and Mamma slept  comfortably and happily.

The next day was very busy and tiring but full of fun and excitement because of that was the actual day of Ingita didi’s engagement. So I got up early and sat on a chair waiting for taking a bath. There Mamma was busy with some other work .After an hour I got ready and went to  the dining table. There I saw  that in the breakfast there was puri and sabzi. I ate that and took my medicine on  time. Suddenly I saw that Mamma had worn a beautiful purple colour sari in Guajarati style. And she had also worn very big-big earrings. We all left for the venue of the engagement ceremony: the Jaganaath temple. We were the first to reach the temple. We removed our shoes and sandals properly at the door of the temple. After the guard did the checking we were allowed to enter the beautiful temple. There we did the prayer and then each and everybody clicked some photos. And we also clicked some photos. Then we came inside one hall of the huge temple there some people were sitting down and some of them were sitting on the chairs and sofas. And we clicked there lots of photos too and after an hour, the waiters served cold drinks and dry fruits. Then gradually more and more presents arrived for the bride and the bridegroom; all the people sat down on the ground for eating lunch but my mamma and some aunties sat on the sofa and ate the food. In the food there was a bowl of soup, Rajma rice, paneer and many other things were given. After eating our meal we washed our  hands and clicked some more pictures of the bride and the bridegroom. Then Mamma gave some money as ‘shagun’ to the bride and the bridegroom. Then after  Pappu Chacha, Rekha Chachi, Bade Papa and Badi Mummy went downstairs and sat near the huge temple. Then after a while a small girl came near me and asked me for playing in the temple compound.  I asked permission from mamma. Then she said, “Ok you can play but please be in front of my eyes.” Then I played for 20 – 30 minutes. Then slowly –slowly each and every member of the engagement ceremony came down and one by one started getting into  the cars and autos. After we reached the Guest-house every one removed their party clothes and took rest for about an hour.

We all got up we all refreshed ourselves and got ready with our special party dress. When the car came I-myself , Mamma, Bua and Pappu Chacha sat in one car .Then suddenly after 5 minutes the driver reminded that Pappu Chacha had not tied his seat-belt so he told him to tie the seat- belt , but here the problem was this that he didn’t know  how to tie the belt so everybody began to giggle and smile, even the driver was also giggling. The driver taught him how to tie the seat belt. In the middle we lost our way to Hotel,  the driver asked for the way in a shop.  The driver understood the direction he started the car towards the Hotel. Then finally after 2 hours we reached the huge Marriott Courtyard, Gudgaon. When we entered the Courtyard I felt like I was in a wonderland.  We sat on the beautiful chairs , I saw the other members of the engagement ceremony on the next table. Suddenly I saw four-five waiters coming together with so many starter dishes  like Hara Kabab , Aalu Tikki , Chicken Roll and Fish Paneer etc. After serving that they brought cold drink of so many flavours like peach, pineapple, apple, blue berry, grapes and Miranda. After everybody finished with these things we were invited  in another hall for eating dinner, so in dinner there were  many items like soup , noodles , pasta , rice , roti , paapd , chicken salad , kulfi and kiwi cake. After eating this everyone started talking and till that time Phupha ji called me and introduced myself to his friends. After 3 hours party we came back to the Guest-house by the car.  Of all the persons I was the most sleepy person. So soon we changed our clothes and got ready for the bed .Then the next morning at 8:30am suddenly I saw that there is no Mamma next to me so, I ran out of my room  and searched in all the rooms but I couldn’t find Mamma or anybody else in the house, then I was really very scared but suddenly I heard some noise coming from outside so I went outside and there I found Mamma and everybody in the garden they were sitting on the ground. After seeing me Mamma kissed me and said “Sorry I didn’t tell you and come here.” Then after a while Mamma said “Ananya get ready fast we have to leave this Guest-house immediately.” So I ran towards the room and got ready within 2 minutes, then I myself, Pappu Chacha , Rekha Chachi and Mamma sat in one car  and left for Pappu Chacha’s relative’s house. When we reached the house I met a small child named Duggu , he was very sweet and innocent child. And I also met an Aunty, who was very kind to everybody. Then we took rest for an hour  and then I and mamma left for the airport. We reached the airport we waited there for the bus to come. Then after an hour the bus came and we left for the runway.  The bus stopped and we went into the plane and after 10-20 minutes the plane took off and in the aircraft  we ate cake and some biscuits  then after 2 hours the plane landed at the the domestic terminal of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport . And then we took a prepaid taxi and in about 2-3 hours we reached our sweet and beautiful home. I missed my Daddy who was not there with us during this trip.
